About Us
Laurel and Hardy
The Hog Wild Tent of the Sons of the Desert - the Bishop Auckland branch of the Laurel and Hardy Appreciation Society - has been in existence since the opening of Bishop Auckland Town Hall in 1993, and has gone from strength to strength over the years.
We exist to celebrate Stan Laurel’s links with Bishop Auckland (he was christened and went to school here while his father was manager of a local theatre), and to enjoy the classic comedy Laurel and Hardy produced.
The Society meets on the first Tuesday of each month (with the exception of January and August), usually in the Laurel Café of the Town Hall, to watch ‘the boys’ on screen, and wallow in nostalgia.
We welcome new members of all ages, so if you’re interested why not give us a try.
Either come along on an evening, or if you’d like more information please phone Bishop Auckland Town Hall on 01388 602 610.
Annual membership of £5.00, or visit as a guest for only 50p per session.
