The following events form part of Bishop Auckland Civic Society's annual programme. The Society was formed in 1989 to safeguard the character of Bishop Auckland and to stimulate public awareness and interest in the town - past, present and future. It holds bi-monthly meetings in the Town Hall and new members are always welcome.

Take pride in your town and help make Bishop Auckland a ‘blooming’ good place to live! Nominate a favourite garden, allotment or window box or better still enter yourself.

Entry forms available from local libraries and members of Bishop Auckland Civic Society.

Judging will take place on 5th and 6th of July

‘OK by me’

The transport families of Bishop Auckland

Tuesday 23 September at 7.30pm

David Holding, author of the recent book on the OK Motor Services, visits to talk about the transport families of Bishop Auckland – the Andersons, Stephensons, Chamberlains etc and the ‘golden age’ of bus services in South West Durham.

Tickets: £1 (to include light refreshments)
