Activities for Over 50s

The Evergreens are a friendly group of over 50s that meet most Wednesdays 10:30am – 3:00pm, with holiday breaks for Summer, Christmas and Easter.

If you call in for a taster session you’ll be made most welcome. A wide range of activities are on offer – from illustrated talks and demonstrations to practical hands-on sessions; from theatre outings and visits to places of interest to stress reducing gentle exercise, healthy eating ideas and mini-concerts.

Gavin Mayhew – Artist, Entertainer, Confuser of Gentle Souls!
I don’t suppose I am the first to think of him as Gavin Mayhem!! However, he is great fun and very patient. He writes “I think we will go one step further this time, with stage sets. Instead of on-the-flat, we should try 3D. I'll let you know the full list when I've finished a lesson-plan, but bring plenty of cardboard boxes.
Try to get the young ladies and the gentlemen to think of stage-sets such as pantos or musicals etc. Keep it simple though. Get them to have ideas before they turn up for the class and maybe bring in some images. I'll do a little study of Victorian 3D children's stuff in the meanwhile as I remember getting a pop-up book that was like a stage set for my girls when they were little.” Nothing to add to that, except to ask you to remind me to remind you to bring the stuff you’ll need.
