Every possible strand of the arts is represented in our comprehensive arts programme. Theatre, music, literature, dance, visual arts and crafts are all featured on a regular basis and there is a constant programme of events for children, people with special needs and specific interest groups.
Opening times: Bishop Auckland Town Hall is open for all scheduled events.
Bishop Auckland Town Hall is fully accessible for disabled patrons. There are lifts to all floors and we have an accessible toilet on the first floor, which is open to the public from 10.00am to 2.00pm on weekdays.
Wheelchair spaces are available in most seating arrangements and patrons are asked to telephone to reserve these in advance (Carers will be seated free of charge).
Access to the seating in the Eden Theatre is via steps with a handrail when our raked seating system is in use. The front row is reserved for customers that would find these steps difficult. Please ask for details when purchasing your tickets and choosing your seats. Please Note: We are unable to offer this service for productions set ‘in the round’, but will continue to make every attempt to allocate seats in specific areas in order to accommodate patrons with special needs – please advise when purchasing your tickets.
An induction loop system is available for those with hearing difficulties. Patrons with hearing aids should set the control to “T”.
The library offers facilities that are accessible for people with disabilities, including a public computer with supernova screen reading software, a large keyboard, adjustable table and trackerball. Further information on accessible library services.
A visitor information point with local and regional information is located within the library.
